In 2019 on his company’s 80th anniversary, Gavin Rich, a seventh generation clothier, drew on his family’s knowledge of building outerwear for the severity of life in Canada and assembled a team to design and build exceptional outerwear for those who want the perfect blend of style, comfort and performance.

Canadian Made
Each Tough Duck Black garment is designed and built in downtown Winnipeg's historied garment district. And while we can’t say which ones, we’ve designed and sewed many of the warmest private label jackets for lots of your favorite brands.
Warmth
With our sewing factory less than a kilometer away from the famed “Coldest Corner in Canada” – Winnipeg’s Portage and Main, we know a thing or two about how severe weather can be and how to defy it. We have decades of experience building outerwear for use in some of the coldest places in the world. That’s expertise you can’t develop overnight.
Urban Safety
We were pioneers in the design of high-vis safety apparel. Our clothing keeps people safe and can withstand the rigors of an arctic diamond mine. We have taken this knowledge and employed it into adding reflective and fashionable accents to our garments to keep Tough Duck Black wearers conspicuous and safe.
